Industrial-Style Glazing and High-Security Entrances for Armada Music

Harlow Glass has completed the installation of industrial-style windows, high-security doors and glazed screens at a prominent Old Street property for QOB, on behalf of international record label Armada Music.

The project required a carefully developed glazing package that balanced the architectural requirements of the surrounding conservation area with the enhanced security standards needed to protect Armada Music’s recording artists, employees and visitors.

To retain the building’s traditional industrial character, Harlow Glass installed robust Aluprof aluminium framing with plant-on glazing bars across the insulated glass units. This achieved the appearance of traditional steel-framed windows while providing the thermal performance, durability and security offered by a modern aluminium system.

A defining feature of the front elevation is the building’s large arched window. The glass was manufactured and installed as a single shaped unit, complete with coordinated glazing bars to maintain the intended proportions and visual character of the original façade. Careful surveying, manufacture and installation were essential to ensure the finished window fitted accurately within the existing structure.

At ground-floor level, Schüco Jansen steel doors and windows were installed together with security-rated glazing. These systems provided the strength and performance necessary to meet the project’s demanding security specification while complementing the industrial appearance of the upper-floor windows.

Close coordination between Harlow Glass, QOB and the wider project team ensured that the conservation, architectural and security requirements were successfully integrated into a single cohesive design.

The completed installation provides Armada Music with a secure and distinctive London premises that respects the character of its Old Street setting while delivering the high level of performance required by a leading international music company.
