Harlow Glass has successfully installed bespoke reeded glass screens at the new headquarters of Universal Music in London’s vibrant Kings Cross. The design, which varies across different floors, was tailored to create contained areas within large open-plan office spaces. Collaborating closely with the main contractor, BW, Harlow Glass addressed complex detailing to deliver an outstanding final product.

To fulfill the project architects' original design intent, Harlow Glass developed custom reeded glass screens. These screens utilized steel channels to form sectional perimeter frames, enabling easy transportation through the building and on-site assembly. Purpose-made head brackets with slotted connections were fixed to these frames, allowing for necessary tolerance and deflection during installation. Laminated reeded glass panels were then fitted into the frames.

To enhance the visual appeal, industrial-style banding was face-bonded to the glass panels, creating the illusion of a continuous framing system. This design choice not only provided a cohesive aesthetic but also aligned with the industrial-chic theme prevalent throughout the headquarters.

In addition to the reeded glass screens, clear glass versions were installed, incorporating a wide range of corner and end junction details. These installations maintained the open feel of the office spaces while providing necessary divisions.

Harlow Glass also installed internal glass balustrades using clear glass. These balustrades were strategically placed in communal kitchen and open-plan areas, enhancing safety while preserving the modern, airy feel of the workspace.

Working alongside BW, Harlow Glass tackled the project’s intricate detailing challenges. The use of sectional perimeter frames and purpose-made head brackets ensured precision in installation, accommodating the building's structural variations.

By translating the project architects' vision into practical, tailored solutions, Harlow Glass successfully merged functionality with aesthetic sophistication. The laminated reeded glass panels and industrial-style banding exemplified this approach, achieving a seamless integration with the overall design.

The installation of bespoke reeded glass screens and clear glass elements at Universal Music’s headquarters has significantly enhanced the office environment. The tailored designs provided necessary spatial divisions while maintaining an open and collaborative atmosphere. The combination of industrial style banding and clear glass balustrades added a modern, cohesive touch to the workspace, reflecting Universal Music’s dynamic and innovative brand.

Harlow Glass’s bespoke installations at Universal Music’s London headquarters demonstrate their expertise in delivering high-quality, custom glass solutions. By closely collaborating with BW and adhering to the project architects' design intent, Harlow Glass created a functional and visually striking office environment.
