Harlow Glass played a crucial role in the design development, fabrication, and installation of frameless glass wall and roof panels for a steel-framed glass extension. Utilizing BIM software, we meticulously developed the full design, allowing precise visualization of the junctions between glass and steel. To meet the design intent, we employed a fully frameless system with stainless steel spider fittings attached to the primary steel structure. These fittings supported the installation of glass panels that formed the walls and roof of the stair enclosure.
Our team conducted a comprehensive structural analysis of the glass and fittings to ensure the project's integrity and safety. A standout design feature was a depleting barcode pattern across the lift shaft, achieved through printed interlayers within the laminated panels. This intricate design, with tight 10mm spacing, was detailed using CAD software derived from the BIM model, resulting in a striking visual effect.
Additional bespoke features included a fully glazed entrance door designed to match the frameless wall panels, integrated with the main building's access control system. Harlow Glass also supplied glass panels for all balustrades on the project, providing these on a supply-only basis to the steel subcontractor.
