The use of fire rated glazing to spread light through spaces while maintaining rooms/compartments for fire safety is an essential part of the design process.  Harlow Glass has a network of fabricators and extensive knowledge in fire rated glazing which enables us to provide a number of solutions to achieve a projects design intent.  Fire rated products can be used internally to control fire routes and also externally as part of a prevention of spread of flame design solution.  Harlow Glass can provide a full framed system installation through to a simple fire rated panel upgrade on any sized project.

Internal Screens & Doors

Fire separation is one of the most important design consideration on both new build and fit-out projects.  Utilising fire rated glass allows designers to maximise internal light and views while still providing the required seperation.  However specification of fire rated glass and frames is a more complex issue than standard fire rated partitions.  Harlow Glass can aid in liaison with designers on a project to get the system right and then take this through to full installation.

External Screens & Doors

External fire rated glazing is available in a wide range of options, and systems can be made from aluminium or the more popular steel.  Installations can include fixed or operable windows, manual or automatic doors, curtain wall facades or any combination of these.  Again specification is a key consideration, in particular with reference to controls of external openings as these require connection to the building alarm systems to operate closing gear on activation of a fire alarm.  All these considerations can be discussed in full with the Harlow Glass design team.

Fire Rated Glass

Fire rated glass has many uses outside of standard screens and doors.  The glass can be used in wall openings and across a range of joinery items.  Fire rated glass can also be integrated into walk-on floor panels to provide light between levels while maintaining fire compartments.  The range of thicknesses of fire rated glass also means that it can often be used to upgrade existing installations.  Harlow Glass can assist with any enquiries relating to fire rated glass products.
